Assuming no one claims Galchenyuk, and the Coyotes terminate his contract, will they be subject to a cap hit?

No, there is no Cap Hit when a contract is terminated. In this specific case, it’s possible the NHLPA files a grievance for the termination, and therefore it’s possible the resolution results in a cap hit. When San Jose terminated the contract of Evander Kane, the settlement from the grievance resulted in a retroactive cap hit.
