Permanent Dead Cap Hit by Team - May 2020

Certain transactions provide teams with a "Dead Cap Hit"; this means the cap hit can never be removed, traded, or reduced.  The transactions that provide a permanent Dead Cap Hit include:

-Buyouts

-Retained Salary Trades

-Over 35 Contract Terminations

-Cap Recapture Penalties

Note that Buried Cap Hits are not considered permanent as a team can recall the player, trade them, buy them out, etc., so the buried cap hit can change based on a team's future actions.
