NHL’s Frequent Flyers

NHL’s Frequent Flyers

Some NHLers are lucky enough to spend their entire career with one team, while others bounce around from team to team throughout their career, trying to find any way to have an opportunity to play at the highest level. Even some of the most notable players in the NHL have spent their career with 5+ teams, so let's break down three names you could use for a lot of your future boards.

One of the greatest players of all time, Jaromir Jagr, spent 24 seasons in the NHL, making nine different stops in his career. Drafted fifth overall in 1990, Jagr spent 11 seasons with Penguins, playing with hall-of-famers such as Mario Lemuix, Mark Recchi, Ron Francis, the list goes on.

Once Jagr left the Penguins, he made his way to the capital city and suited up for the Washington Capitals for the next two and a half seasons, before getting traded to the New York Rangers in the 2003-2004 season. Jagr would go on to play three more seasons with the Rangers before heading back to the KHL between 2008-2011.

When Jagr made his return to the NHL, he would go on to play for six different clubs across nine NHL seasons, making stops in Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, New Jersey, Florida and finally Calgary. Jagr is Puckdoku gold, playing with even more greats such as Mark Messier, Patrice Bergeron, Brendan Shanahan and Sergei Gonchar.

Paul Coffey, one of the best defenseman the game has ever seen, played for nine teams across 21 seasons, and could be used in a bunch of scenarios for Puckdoku. Coffey began his career with the Edmonton Oilers, where he spent seven seasons with the club, where he won three Stanley Cups. Once Coffey’s time wrapped up in Edmonton, he made his way over to Pittsburgh, where he spent five seasons with the club, where he won his fourth and final Stanley Cup ring.

Over the course of the next nine seasons, Coffey played for seven NHL teams; making stops in Los Angeles, Detroit, Hartford, Philadelphia, Chicago, Carolina and his final pit stop was in Boston.

With numerous trips to the postseason throughout his career, Coffey can provide fans with numerous options depending on the topic. He played 1409 NHL regular season games, 194 playoff games, seven seasons with 100+ penalty minutes and five seasons with 100+ points.

Mike Sillinger is a name that many in the new generation might not know, but he was drafted 11th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1989 NHL Draft and spent 18 years in the NHL across 12 teams. Sillinger played in 1049 NHL regular season games for the Red Wings, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators and New York Islanders.

Sillinger also played with numerous hall-of-famers such as Paul Kariya, Pavel Bure, Alexander Mogilny, Marian Hossa, Daniel Alfredsson, Shane Doan, Doug Weight and Bill Guerin. With that, you have the ability to use a guy like Mike Sillinger in an abundance of choices. Sillinger was a solid role player during his time in the NHL, accumulating 548 points during his time in the league.

Don’t be afraid to test your knowledge, and try out some of these NHL legends who spread their career across numerous organizations. It is not always about getting the lowest score, rather just seeing if you have what it takes to correctly guess a perfect Puckdoku board.
