Why do teams have so much Current Cap Space? Some teams have hundreds of million.

Current Cap Space is the amount of Annual Cap Hit that can be added to the roster without exceeding the Salary Cap. Because cap hits are pro-rated based on the days remaining in the season, a team adding a cap hit at this point in the year must only have room for a few days worth of their annual cap hit. As a result, that makes the Current Space large since the team can accommodate a large amount of annual cap hit.
