Retention Spots

Habs have 2 retention spots used. When are they available to use again. After the cup is awarded? Just before the draft, after the draft?

The retention spots free up when the retained contract is no longer active, which happens on June 30 of the last year of the contract. Sine both Petry and Allen are in the last year of their contract, Montreal would be eligible to use those retention spots starting on July 1, when those contracts are no longer active.
