Expansion Draft Eligibility

Seattle is scheduled to hold their expansion draft in 2021 following the same expansion rules as Vegas.  They will select among expansion eligible players.

Expansion Eligible

If a player has 3 or more years of professional experience as of the end of 2020-2021 season, they are expansion eligible.

On PuckPedia.com, if a player has 3 or more years of professional experience including 2020-2021, they are listed as expansion Eligible.   

Professional Experience is defined in accordance with Waivers (CBA Section 13.4) as:

-If player was 20 or older as of Dec 31 of a season, any season with 1+ NHL, AHL, or ECHL GP counts as a year of Professional Experience

-If player was less than 20 as of Dec 31 of a season, any season with 11+ NHL GP counts as a year of Professional Experience

Expansion Exempt

If the player does not meet the exemption eligibility requirements above, then their Expansion Eligibility Status is Exempt
