Maximum Retained on a player
Asked Jul 29, 2022 by Jamy
Can two teams retain 50% each making the third team carry 25% of a players salary/cap hit?
This question centers around Patrick Kane. When you say a players salary can be retained by a maximum of two teams, is the team he eventually plays for technically "retaining salary", or is it two prior teams?

The maximum two retained salaries on a player refers to the teams the player is no longer with. A player can have 50% retained by two teams, so the final team receiving him only carries him at 25% of his original cap hit.
